RACK SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE

Error symptoms in rack systems are not always obvious to untrained eyes. Rack damage can be made invisible by racks stacked with inventory. These include bent columns, cut or crushed frames, damaged footplates, loose or missing anchor bolts, and more.

DO NOT WAIT AN ACCIDENT TO OCCUR. THE FIRST STEP IN DETERMINING THE STATE OF THE RACK SYSTEMS IS TO CREATE A REGULAR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. RACKS DAMAGE CHECKS MUST BE MADE BY PERSONS WITH EXPERT IN THE RACK SYSTEM. INSPECTIONS SHOULD BE DONE AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR OR PREFERRED MORE. EVENTS SUCH AS FORKLIFT SHOCK OR EARTHQUAKE REQUIRE RE-MAINTENANCE. INCREASED WAREHOUSE ACTIVITY AND MORE INTENSIVE TRAFFIC ALSO REQUIRES MAINTENANCE BECAUSE IT INCREASES THE POSSIBILITY OF EXPOSURE TO RACK DAMAGE.
